This course is designed to build the reading and writing skills of
non-native speakers of English in order to prepare for academic work in English. This is a low intermediate reading and writing course and includes practice in the following: In reading, the focus is on comprehension, vocabulary development, reading rate and study skills. In writing it emphasizes paragraph organization, writing good paragraphs and short essays. Enrollment preference is given to international students wishing to prepare for academic work in English.
